Artist Biography
Eddy, a passionate and adept Fine Artist, channels his passion into crafting portraits that uniquely emphasise abstract qualities. Focusing on new and learnt techniques, variety of colour palettes, and spontaneous applications, he creates portraits that capture the inherent beauty, vibrancy, and aesthetic of each subject.
His talent was recognized at age 17 when he received the people's choice award and earned a nomination for the 2016 Art Express for his outstanding HSC major work in Visual Arts. An alumnus of the renowned National Art School with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, Eddy remains committed to his artistic journey. He has expanded his knowledge and skills by completing a Certificate IV in Arts and Cultural Administration at TAFE.
Since launching his professional career in 2017, Eddy's artistic prowess has garnered publicity and recognition. Notable achievements include securing a spot in the 2018 Salon des Refusés at the S.H. Ervin Gallery, being a finalist in the prestigious 2020 Archibald Portrait Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and selected for the esteemed 2022 Annual Bluethumb Art Prize. Eddy has also been a finalist in several other prestigious competitions. These include the 2018 Young Artist Prize at the Royal Art Society of New South Wales, 2020 John Copes Portrait Prize at the Bowral Art Gallery and the 2022 Tony White Memorial Art prize in Kangaroo Valley.
Eddy has enjoyed considerable success during his times at Gallery 11:11 in North Epping. This includes the sales of more than half of his collections at his two prior solo exhibitions, ‘Sensations’ (2023) and ‘Dreamlike’ (2024), as well as conducting portrait workshops. Furthermore, he embraced the opportunity to serve as the guest judge for the 2024 Youth Self Portrait Art Prize at Gallery 11:11.
